Consumer Focus

Consumers (people who have experienced a mental health disorder) are increasingly interested in participating in and managing their own health. Internet based intervention programs are an ideal tool for facilitating such empowerment. CRU is therefore closely aligned with e-hub group at the Centre for Mental Health Research. In addition, e-hub has a strong program of work in the field of consumer informatics.

CRU Director

Associate Professor Kathy Griffiths is the Director of the Consumer Research Unit. Kathy brings her personal experience of depression to the Unit's program of work. Her research interests are in the areas of mental health consumer priorities and needs; stigma in depression; rural mental health; and e-mental health. Kathy has co-developed several mental health websites including BluePages, MoodGYM and e-couch, and is the author of approximately 100 books, chapters and academic articles.
